New Jugs by Nicola Tassie

A series of twelve new jugs by London-based ceramicist Nicola Tassie are now on show at Flow.

Grey Grogged Porcelain Faceted Jug, £195

“A jug has a lot going for it - it’s both community & stands alone, it’s both functional & contemplative. The handle is an invitation to touch & the spout provides an easy exit. It’s pottery’s everyman & it’s a form I continually return to making.”

– Nicola Tassie

Grogged Porcelain Faceted Jug with Glaze, £195; Chun & Dolomite Glazed Red Stoneware Jug, £195

Nicola Tassie is a ceramic artist with a broad-based practice that easily encompasses both wheel-thrown editions of functional pots as well as more sculptural works. Her explorative approach to the material is often displayed in eclectic groups of jugs which compliment and contrast surface, texture and glaze. Nicola continues to work from her studio in east London.

Nicola Tassie initially studied painting at the Central School of Art but took up ceramics soon after completing her BA, establishing a studio in Hoxton in London in the 1980s. She has a broad-based practice which easily encompasses both wheel-thrown editions of functional pots - most especially jugs - as well as more sculptural works which explore the expanding precincts of ceramic form.
