A Collection of Jewellery by Adele Brereton

For the new year, Flow is delighted to show Adele Brereton’s new collection of jewellery – a selection of necklaces and earrings in 18ct Gold and Silver.

Large Silver Spiculum Pendant, £320

“There is a human narrative behind the everyday objects that inform my work. Redundant & eroded shards of Victorian smoking pipes influence the irregular hollow forms.”

– Adele Brereton

18ct Gold Bell Hook Earrings, £860

Adele Brereton works in Silver and Gold, intuitively translating forms by hammering from a flat sheet using ancient techniques to create jewellery that is tactile and understated. She uses the process of hand raising to sculpt silver and gold, creating jewellery that looks and feels like it has been hand-formed rather than hammered many hundreds of times. She uses 100% recycled precious metals, giving the materials themselves a human history.

“There is a subtlety to the surface texture and a simplicity of form which gives a quiet and understated feeling to my work.”

- Adele Brereton

Adele’s work is based around discarded and eroded manmade objects, which results in an inherently organic aesthetic. She is drawn to hollow and irregular forms, often returning to the broken Victorian smoking pipe bowls she has found at the foreshore of the River Thames.

An inherent dialogue remains between the manmade and the organic, alluding to the feeling and qualities of the found objects, with their decayed urban patina and ambiguity of material.
