“MY PASSION IS BLOWN GLASS FORMED BY HAND INTO VESSELS OR FLAT PANELS. MY WORK IS RICHLY DECORATED, BORDERING ON BAROQUE. I SEEK TO CAPTURE THE SENSUAL ELEMENT IN GLASS. NATURE IS CONSTANTLY PRESENT BUTS ITS BEAUTY IS THREATENED.”
Ulla Forsell is one of the pioneers of studio glass in Europe. She has been making glass in her own workshop in central Stockholm since 1974. Techniques for the 'Botanica' Glass Tumblers: "I use high fired ceramic decals because I want the decals to melt into the glass surface. Therefore, the process is complicated as the glass collapses at 550°C. I have found a way around that problem which means that I more or less blow the glass twice. The 'Botanica' collection is unique and includes different floral motifs." — Ulla Forsell.
