Maarten Kolk and Guus Kusters 'Withering Tableware' Vase
£590.00
Traditionally, the paintwork on fine china is applied by hand. Maarten Kolk & Guus Kusters have developed glazing recipes that do not require craftsmen to paint the crockery directly, but rather, the mould before the product is cast. After each cast the glaze further washes away and crumbles, drawing a clear parallel with withering flowers in nature. The collection balances nature and the culture of production, emphasizing the beauty of both worlds.
by Studio Maarten Kolk & Guus Kusters, commissioned by Thomas Eyck
Materials: Porcelain
Techniques: painted mould then cast
Measurements: Ø14cm, H;36 cm
