Justine Allison
British Ceramic Artist
“ I MAKE IN GROUPS ALTHOUGH EACH PIECE IS INDIVIDUAL WITH FAMILIAR TRAITS. I ENJOY HOW THEY FIT COMFORTABLY TOGETHER BUT ARE STRONG ALONE. MY LANGUAGE OF CLAY IS A BALANCE BETWEEN FUNCTION & SCULPTURAL. THEY ARE NOT PERFECT BUT PRECISE & HAVE STRONG LINES WHICH ARE SOFT IN COLOUR.”
Justine primarily works with hand-built porcelain. Her work pushes the boundaries of function and decoration. The form is paramount; function is a driving motivation, but it is the aesthetics of a piece that are key to her making.
