Bubun
Japanese Jeweller
“GLASS VISUALLY BLURS THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE BODY AND ITS ENVIRONMENT CONNECTING THEM. EACH PIECE IS FORMED OF GLASS WOVEN BY THREAD REINFORCING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE JEWELLERY, OUR BODIES AND THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT.”
Bubun is a jewellery-making duo of Megumi Jin and Nobuyuki Jin, based in Japan. Fascinated by glass as a student, Megumi studied glass coldwork and kilnwork at Tama Art University, where she created objects and jewellery. Joining Nobuyuki Jin, with his background in design, and sharing a mutual sense of beauty they set up Bubun in 2016. Bubun means "part" in Japanese. They believe jewellery becomes part of a person, both in the physical sense and in the spiritual sense. In 2019, they moved from Kanagawa to Kofu, the centre of the jewellery industry in Japan, where they continue to work today.
