Ane Christensen

Danish Metal Artist

“MY WORK IS ALMOST ALWAYS A MEETING OF CONTRASTS. CALM MEETING CHAOS, HEAVY MEETING DELICATE, OR DARK MEETING LIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS IS PARTLY THE RESULT OF MY SCANDINAVIAN BACKGROUND & MY CURRENT LIFE IN A BIG CITY LIKE LONDON.”

Ane Christensen’s metalwork explores the subject of illusion and balance. It investigates the dialogue created by combining contrasting elements within an object. Simple bowl forms are ‘interrupted’ by visually complex, open, and delicate structures. Christensen applies traditional techniques such as hand piercing, drilling, and soldering on to a variety of metals, combining them in an exploration of colour and texture.

Ane Christensen work features in collections internationally. Including public collections such as the Crafts Council, Victoria & Albert Museum, Museum of Decorative Arts, Copenhagen and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, The Goldsmiths’ Company, Birmingham Museum and Liverpool Museum.
